XP77 – Front Entrance Doors

Size options

The sizes displayed on our website are the manufacturing sizes for the doors themselves, this includes the overall height from the bottom of the cill and the overall width of the product itself.

All our entrance doors are sat on a 150mm external cill & all open inwards into the property.

The masons opening where the door needs to be installed into needs to be slightly larger so the door can be installed level and plumb into the opening. Read the section below on ‘preparing for installation’ for information on measuring and preparing the opening for your new entrance doors.

Integral blind options

Integral blinds are the ideal solution for bi-folding doors. We offer sliding venetian blinds in three different colours.

To add integral blinds to your order simply choose the colour of your choice from the three options available.

Laminated glass

We offer 28mm toughened softcoat low E glass as standard. Laminated glass is a requirement for new build homes under the Part Q building regulations but it is not a legal requirement for replacement installations.

We recommend laminated glass if you have security concerns or will require your installation to be signed off by building control. To change the glass in your bi-folding doors from toughened to laminate glass simply click on the laminated glass icon.

Built up on delivery

For sizes up to 3200mm in width your doors will be delivered built up in one piece, unless you advise us otherwise.

When built up the doors are heavy so our driver will need assistance when unloading the product when it is delivered. The doors are also heavy to install so cannot be installed by one when individual when they are delivered built up.

For door sizes wider than 3200mm the product will be delivered disassembled in a kit format.

Fitters pack

General glazing tools are required to install the XP77 front doors, our fitters pack is available to ensure you have the correct materials to properly install the bi-folding door. The XP77 fitters pack includes:

• 7 x grey packers, 7 x red packers and 7 x blue packers
• 1 can of expanding foam
• 3 tubes of 7016 Silicone
• 4 wingtip steel fixings
• 12 concrete fixings

Maintenance pack

Although maintenance is minimal it is important to look after & maintain your aluminium bi-folding door. Our maintenance pack includes 1 x tube of premium quality glass cleaner, 1 x tube of silicone spray & a none abrasive microfibre cloth.

Internal Handle colour

Externally our entrance doors come with a feature stainless steel pole handle.

As standard the doors internal handle is a contemporary brushed steel handle as pictured.

The internal lever handle is also available in black for a more subtle appearance, simply click the black icon to order that colour internal handle.

Prepare for an entrance door installation

These doors should be fitted by competent and trained installers.

We will provide installation instructions by hard copy with delivery and by e-mail prior to the delivery of the product.

The door must be fitted plumb and level within the opening. A fitting tolerance of at least 10mm is required to install these doors into your opening.

The doors will arrive built-up and packaged so will require two people to lift and store safely as they are heavy.

The door threshold

The entrance doors open into the property and are sat on a 150mm external cill.

The cill will be supplied 200mm oversized so it can be notched around the brickwork for return (this is an optional finishing detail, if not required then cut the cill on site to suit the width of the aperture).

From the underside of the cill to the top of the internal rebate the measurement is 25mm so the internal floor level can be sat almost flush against the top of the rebate to create a seamless transition from inside to out with a flush internal and the weather rated low threshold of the XP77 entrance door.

Installation Tools Required

The installation can be carried out in 8 simple steps:

1. You will need to Remove all the outer packaging and store the entrance door safely, so it doesn’t get scratched or damaged. on trestles.
2. Cut and install your DPM tray (not supplied by Express) and then ensure the base is level by using packers.
3. Fix the cill onto the level base and using a high-performance silicone bond, seal the full length of the cill on the upstand ensuring the silicone returns in both corners.
4. Lift the door into position using wind bags and secure the door in the opening. Once the door is secured, unlock the door with the key and open the sash 90 degrees using another wind bag under the sash to support its weight (while you have the door sash open during the installation it is important to support the weight of the sash to prevent damaging the hinges).
5. Using a laser level ensure the frame is fixed through the thermal break plumb and level 100mm from the corners and at a maximum of 450mm centres thereafter. A minimum of 2 and maximum of 3 fixings are required in the head of the frame depending on the width of the door.*Use a countersink to enable flush fixings within the frame*. Please note that NO fixings are required in the threshold of the door as this will be bonded to the cill as per step 3.
6. Double tape the frame and brickwork to protect both. Silicone seal the external gap between the frame and brickwork to ensure the door is weather-tight and then foam finish the internal.
7. Close the door and check the door is locking smoothly, if any slight adjustment is required this can be done by opening the door back up and adjusting it on the hinges up/down and left/right by turning the torx screws with a torx screwdriver.
8. The installation is now complete, and the door can be cleaned down to remove any dust or debris.

We advise that you do not use your new door as an access route for trades during your building project as this will minimise any potential damage to the door by other trades working on site.
